Sebench Engineering is currently performing the design of the Fire Protection Systems for the largest integrated mine-to-steel-making facility in North America.
This $1.65+ billion project will ultimately produce up to 2.5 million tons of steel annually. The project includes many different types of processing areas, ranging from an open-pit mine, iron ore concentrator, pellet and direct reduced iron plants, to a possible future slab production facility. The diversity of functions presents multiple challenges to be considered when designing fire detection and suppression systems.
Sebench participated in the basic engineering during the planning phases of the project in 2008. Our reputation as a leader in Fire Protection Design within the steel industry made Sebench a natural choice to complete the design and oversee the installation of the Fire Protection Systems for this massive project.
