Oil refineries and storage facilities are especially challenging to protect. Protection of crude oil storage tanks, processing, and interim storage of finished products is a complex engineering task. Vast quantities of water are required and often multiple water supply sources must be combined to provide adequate flow for multiple fire pumps. The design of these fire pumps, along with the supply issues, requires specialized skills and experience.
Sebench is currently working on four separate upgrades at two refineries in the Midwest and Southwest. The challenges of designing upgrades for existing, petroleum facilities is one that Sebench is well-able to handle.
- BP-Husky in Oregon, OH
- Holly Frontier Refining in Tulsa, OK.
Both facilities have design challenges posed by existing operations. Water supply for these facilities is crucial, since both of which are located in heavily populated areas. Assuring that sufficient water is available is pivotal to the success of any such project.
